ok...this is my REAL submission for Project Designer!

TOPIC:A young, high class woman is stranded on a tropical island- design an outfit out of materials found on the island to create something rich and high class. It's all about INNOVATION.

i'm definitely a LOT happier with this one than I was with my previous try at it.

I decided to go with a regular dress that didn't incorporate a corset at all, because it's been done, and I think it's a bigger challenge to NOT do something that obvious. the bodice is made out of ear leaf acacia leaves, wrapped around vines (which are hidden and only for contstruction purposes) and attached to each other using chicle (tree sap used in gum...aka sticky). The Acacia leaf cap sleeves are also attached to the bodice using the chicle. The skirt is constructed of layers of chocolate tree leaves threaded on a vine and attached to each other to provide more coverage using the tree sap. Tabebuia blossoms are hung from a vine "glued" to the topmost leaf on the skirt for a bit of embellishment, due to their bright color and to break up the montonous green. The back of the dress is my favorite. The acacia leaves wrap around each other and the vine embellishments to form a sort of backless dress. Two chocolate leaves are folded to form sort of a bow, and a royal poinciana blossom is attached to the center ( i love this blossom, it's gorgeous!). Three flowers from a Bleeding heart vine (another one of my favorites) dangle from the bow, and two fronds of a philodendron plant hang from the bow (sort of like a real bow). In her hair is a plumeria blossom, with more bleeding heart flowers dangling from it. on her wrist is a bracelet woven out of Ylang Ylang blossoms. Being the high class woman she is, she knows that Chanel No 5 smells almost exactly like a Ylang Ylang blossom, and took the opportunity to smell as fabulous as she is.

Well, that's my design! I took a few liberties here, such as assuming the tree sap would work as an adhesive, wikipedia said that it was used in gum, and gum holds amost anything together! ^^

now if only i had enough brain power to figure out how to make outfits out of the stuff in my backyard. This dress is (gets out a dictionary) outstanding, amazing, creative, unique, wonderful, inspiring, and many more things that would take too much time to write. The use of tree sap is a wonderful idea, much better than my idea of mud (it dries and cracks), while the back looks like something in a fashion show. obviously, i love this dress.

it's like Project Runway (the fashion design reality show on Bravo) except instead of sewing, we just have to come up with a sketch every week. it's fun! i have the link to the creator's devArt account in my signature

thank you!
